Environmental Benefits
The hemp plant uses the sun efficiently and recycles greenhouse gases out
of the atmosphere. Able to grow 12-20 feet in a season, hemp can grow in
most climate and soil conditions. Its strong roots preserve topsoil and
slow down erosion. Hemp draws heavy metals up through its roots into its
stalk and can clean polluted soil in several seasons. The stalks can then
be used for any use without combustion, i.e. fiberboard, paper,
insulation, plastic polymers. Hemp is a natural herbicide and is grown
without pesticides. Rotating with another crop keeps the soil free of
weeds for the next crop, which in turn helps heal the soil. Another
environmental benefit for harvesting hemp is it allows trees to grow.
